Ward R. Bouman, CPA
Founding partner emeritus ​

Ward was born and raised in San Diego and is a San Diego State University graduate. He has been a CPA for nearly 35 years working for a national CPA firm out of college. He left public accounting to work as the CFO of a local ship repair company. When the opportunity arose he joined the company 25 years ago. He has a broad knowledge base and expertise in individual and business taxes as well as specialization in the Hotel, Construction and Non Profit industries. Ward and his wife Jayme raised two daughters who have followed in their dad's footsteps and are CPA's with Ling & Bouman as well. In the off season Ward loves to travel to Hawaii, the Colorado river and La Quinta. He also loves to spend time with his 5 grandchildren. As of January 2022 Ward is semi-retired but remains a valuable resource for our team.
William H. Ling, CPA

​Bill grew up in Pennsylvania and is a proud graduate of Penn State University. He moved to San Diego in 1974 and began working for a national CPA firm specializing in the hotel and hospitality industry. He left public accounting to work as the treasurer and secretary of Hotel Investors Corporation. In 1993 he went out on his own to form William H. Ling, CPA which has grown into Ling & Bouman, LLP. Over the course of his extensive career he has performed forensic accounting for SEC receivership cases, testified as an expert witness, and assisted in the restructuring and acquisition of multi million dollar businesses. He has expertise in assurance services and complex income taxation issues. Bill is transitioning into retirement but is still very much an invaluable member of our firm. Bill and his wife Mary have raised three children in Poway and have 5 grandsons.
Jason C. Gutzmer, CPA

Jason graduated from Cal State San Marcos with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting in 2005. He began working at William H. Ling, CPA in 2006 and has been with our firm ever since. Jason received his CPA designation in 2010 and has gained a wide range of knowledge encompassing all our service offerings. His attest areas of specialty include hotels, real estate projects (to include HUD assisted projects), not for profit entities and employee benefit plan engagements. Jason specializes in individual, partnership, S Corporation and not for profit taxation and tax planning. Jason and his wife Angela are lifelong residents of Poway, CA where they currently reside with their two sons. In his free time Jason enjoys camping at the beach, fishing and participating in and helping others in desert races such as the Baja 500 and Baja 1000.

Kristi L. Pollard, CPA

Kristi started on her path to becoming a CPA at the University of California - Santa Barbara and followed up with a Masters of Science in Accountancy from San Diego State University in 2007. She began working with the firm part time while she was obtaining her masters degree. In the years since she has gained experience working on engagements in all of the services that our firm offers. Kristi's tax experience focuses on individual and partnership taxation. Her audit experience has focused on the hotel, construction, and non profit industries. She was recently promoted to partner and is excited to take on her new role with the firm.
Kelli A. Torpey, CPA

Kelli was born and raised in San Diego, CA and is a proud UCLA Bruin. She started her career at Ernst & Young San Diego’s Assurance services. During her time there she worked on audits of a broad range of public and private companies in various industries, including real estate, bio-tech, manufacturing and software. She has since held positions as a controller, managing daily accounting functions for a small business and as an internal auditor at a large public company. A CPA since 2011, Kelli is the newest partner to join our team! She lives in Tierrasanta with her husband and children. They enjoy spending family time together swimming, playing with their rescue dog, Bug, and going to sporting events.

Kimberly Cook
Accounting and Bookkeeping Specialist

Kim began her career as a bookkeeper for Vagabond Hotel Company. From there she progressed through the ranks to become the corporate controller for a publicly traded company. In 1993 she started working for William H. Ling as the firm accounting and bookkeeping specialist. Kim has worked on both sides of the business as the controller preparing her records for audit and as the auditor. Her expertise in accounting from a daily operational standpoint is an asset to our firm and our small business clients. Kim has lived in San Diego all her life and together with her husband Gene, where they raised their daughter Alex.

Alex Cook
Administrative Assistant and Accountant
​
Alex recently graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology with a Bachelors of Science in New Media Publishing. After graduation she worked as an account manager and customer service representative where she managed large scale production accounts at a large direct mail and commercial printing company. She traded in the cold weather of the other side of the country to move back to San Diego. Alex is the office manager, administrative assistant and a bookkeeper at our firm. When she's not managing the day to day operations of the office you can find her at Disneyland.

Kylie A. Robinson
Tax and Accounting Associate
​
Kylie is the newest member of our team. She grew up in southern California and recently graduated from Sonoma State with a degree in Human Development. Additionally, she has a degree from CSU global in accounting. She previously worked at a construction company and has experience with bookkeeping and human resources. All around she's a great addition to the Company. In 2023 she plans to marry her college sweetheart. They enjoy hanging out with their Dog Charley, going to the beach, checking out local breweries and cooking together on the weekends.
